Earned, never rented
No paid-link schemes, no keyword stuffing, no shortcuts that Google will claw back in six months. Everything we build is meant to still be ranking two years from now.
The people behind Foothold · Oklahoma City
I’m Dana. Foothold is a small organic SEO studio I run out of south Oklahoma City, and this page is the honest version of who we are — why I left the agency treadmill, how I think about search, and the two people who’ll be reading your Search Console with you.

Where this started
I spent my agency years in rooms where “SEO” meant hitting a monthly link quota and shipping blog posts no human ever finished reading. The dashboards looked great. The pipelines didn’t move.
So in 2019 I set up one desk and one rule: only take on the number of clients I can actually know. That means I read your product docs, sit in on a sales call or two, and learn the words your buyers type at 2am — before I write a single line. Foothold has stayed small on purpose ever since.

What we hold to
No paid-link schemes, no keyword stuffing, no shortcuts that Google will claw back in six months. Everything we build is meant to still be ranking two years from now.
If a paragraph could’ve been published on any company’s site, it doesn’t leave the studio. Marisol cuts the generic and keeps the specific — that’s why our content reads human.
Every month you get a plain-language recap: what moved, what didn’t, and what we change next. When a page ranks, I can tell you exactly why it did.
Flat, scoped engagements — you always know the number before work starts, and you can pause or leave on 30 days’ notice. No retainers that quietly balloon.
I’d rather rank one page for a decade than chase ten that vanish by spring.

How Foothold grew
I left the agency world with a single SaaS client who’d followed me out the door. First month was all audit — no content, just clearing the technical mess underneath a five-year-old site.
The writing outgrew one pair of hands. Marisol came on as editor and researcher — the person who now pressure-tests every draft against real search intent before it ships.
After a few years of trial and error, the monthly rhythm most clients live on today took shape: four researched long-form pieces, steady technical upkeep, and a recap you can actually read.
Foothold caps how many teams we work with so the work stays personal — written and audited by the same hands that pitched you. When you email, I answer.
Who you’ll actually work with
I run the strategy, the audits, and most of the writing. Fifteen years in and I still open every client’s Search Console myself on a Monday morning — it’s the closest thing I have to a ritual.
Marisol pressure-tests every draft against the actual search intent and fact-checks the specifics. If a sentence could’ve been written about any company, she cuts it — which is exactly why our content reads like a person wrote it.
Rather just talk?
Now that you know who’s on the other end, send a few details and I’ll come back within two business days with a straight answer — where the opportunity is, which package fits, and a real number.
